Inclusive Communication: A Partnership

I’d like to share a little about how I communicate, so you know what to expect when working with me. My hope is that this helps our collaboration feel comfortable, respectful, and effective from the start.

Curiosity & Empathy

My communication style is rooted in curiosity and empathy. When we work together, you can expect conversations that are clear, respectful, and solution-focused. I ask clarifying questions, share observations, and reflect back what I’ve heard to make sure I understand your perspective. For me, empathy shows up in taking your words seriously, respecting your experiences as valid, and staying fully present as we work through challenges together. My goal is to listen deeply so I can support you effectively.

Translating Images

Image depicts a woman wearing over-ear headphones. Her head is covered in fall-colored flowers. Only her nose and mouth are visible. Her jacket is covered in matching flowers.

I think in pictures. This means that when I speak, I’m translating visuals into words—in real time. That process can affect the rhythm of my speech. I may pause before answering, stutter occasionally, or use metaphors to explain ideas.

I may also look away or close my eyes while listening. These are not signs of disconnection—they’re part of how I stay fully engaged and process what’s being said.

Patterns & Creativity

My processing style helps me spot patterns others might miss. I connect ideas across disciplines, experiences, and stories, which allows me to think strategically and map out solutions that feel intuitive, creative, and often surprising to others. This isn’t just how I think—it’s also how I learn, remember, and make sense of the world.

Why It Matters

I share these details as part of my commitment to inclusion.

Clear, honest communication makes every partnership stronger. I invite you to be clear and direct with me, ask questions if something feels uncertain, and share your own communication preferences.

When we communicate inclusively, we unlock our best ideas. It paves the way for innovation, equity, and long-lasting impact.
